Day one of college at 42!

Hey there! So let me start by saying that I have used parts of my brain that I haven't used in nearly 23 years! Ouch! This morning I got up at 5:30 am to get ready and drive into town to catch the light rail (subway above ground) into Denver for my first day of classes. Can I just say that I seemed to be the only happy one at the station. I was so excited that it was finally "That" Monday and that it was finally time to get back to school. I really felt like a kid on their first day, new clothes, new school supplies, no lunch box but the equally important Starbucks' card! Yup that was me at 6:50 am at the station! Shiny faced and ready to go. Fast forward to 11:30, I am as old as the professor and infinitely more conservative. There are 12 of us in this class and I am old enough to be the mother of 11 of them! So modified mindset is in order, remember what it was like to actually be a young, fresh out of high school kid and try to remember I am not their Mom! LOL! I have just spent three hours doing homework and am still so very excited to be back! Please remind me of this in about 3 weeks or so:)
I haven't gotten any stitching done this last week, sigh. I have been working on my algebra. I can assure you I have not used algebra since I left high school. So I have enlisted the help of Demitri to reacquaint me with the oh so fun formulas and concepts. Alas, now the tutor has left for a week in Rome. Yup, Rome. So I am left to continue forward on my own. I should mention that I really am grateful for the Internet. I found a couple of websites to aid me whilst he is out and about touring fabulous places and getting a real world/global education. Sigh, someday my sweetheart and I will get there. Demitri promised lots of pictures:)
Well, I think that covers it for now, I have to get upstairs and start reading Chapter 1. Until next time, TTFN!

  3. Congratulations on your first week back at college! You know, you're probably the only one actually doing the homework each night. I can only hope the coffee addiction is serving you well and allowing you to stay awake to study algebra, etc. See you soon!
